Effective curriculum mapping requires personnel and time. To facilitate the process, please bring together the following documents and personnel:
  • District-level staff most knowledgeable of the standardized mathematics and science curricula. Standardized curricula are those that appear in your district textbooks and/or your district curriculum guide.

  • Mathematics and science curricula guides developed for your district.

  •
  • Other personnel and written material that influence what is taught at what grade level(s).

Quality curriculum analysis and evaluation is a time-consuming task. It is recommended that you allow approximately 1-2 hours for each subject area (mathematics and science) for the mapping process. Opportunities are provided along the way to save unfinished maps and return later for their completion. Completed maps can also be modified. Once maps are completed, additional time for analysis and discussion will be necessary.
